This is an update after the following was written.Make sure you buy with Prime and check your your ukulele thoroughly before the return date.I have purchased 4 ukuleles from Enya and they have been near perfect.(I buy, setup and sell ukulele as a hobby). They only had minor issues which were easly corrected. The end result was a perfect ukulele each time. However, the last two were a mess! They should clean their spray nozzle so it doesn't spit, spattering the clear coat with pimples. It's supposed to atomize. Also, the headstock grain was not filled before the glossy piano black finish was applied to either ukulele!Very grainy looking! It should be smooth as glass like the previous ones!LOOKS LIKE HELL!The second one I received had been returned by someone else.It was missing the foam wrapping around the ukulele itself and just placed in the gig bag.It was also missing the papers and the wrench for removing the neck.Full of fingerprints! The previous shipping labels had literally been cut from the box.It looked like it came from a rummage sale!I have returned both!I hope no one else gets them!I might expect this to come from a third party seller but not from him yet direct! What's wrong with you Enya!Someone is definitely asleep at the wheel lately! Now, back to the former review...Enya Mad ukes are very nice for the money.I highly recommend them!I'm surprised I got this one as cheap as I did ($89.99) usually they cost much more.Around $130.However, there are a few little bugaboos to contend with that I haven't seen before in these ukuleles. The bridge was kind of chalky looking and smeared with clear finish of the ukulele. This at least shows that they glued on the bridge before they finished the ukulele. That's a good thing. It gives it better adhesion. This really isn't necessary because this is basically a no tension bridge on this ukulele, but still, it's nice to know that it's been glued properly.I was able to easily sand off the glue With some 400 grit sandpaper and apply a coat of tongue oil polymer to it to liven it up and give it a richer appearance. It looks perfect now!No problem, not a big deal. These things are common with many ukuleles these days.I actually sell them and go through each and everyone anyway beforeI sell them.I'm used to it, so it doesn't bother me to tend to these little odds and ends. The clear finish is very nice and flawless. The fret ends were actually smooth. The pearloid fret markers could be of a little bit better quality pearloid, but they are pretty good for markers that aren't just simple dots. The fretboard looked a little bit washed too with a bit of smudging.I cleaned it and livened it up with with a tung oil polymer blend that I use on wooden fretboards. It's a man-made fretboard but my tung oil blend worked quite well.Wipe on, buff off right away. You could use lemon oil on this particular material, but I would never recommend it on real wood.It dries wood out.One thing I've got to complain about is the fact that these no longer come as a kit including a strap, shaker, tuner, capo, extra strings and polishing cloth.I checked, and even the higher priced ones don't come with this stuff anymore! What the heck Enya?I feel a bit left out on the cold! The little adjustments I had to make only took about 20 minutes, if that.Much less attention was needed than other ukuleles I buy to resell locally.I would definitely recommend this ukulele for beginners as well as pros.It has a very sweet tone and projection. it's very easy to play thanks to the radius on the fretboard. It looks looks very classy with the classic open headstock and fancy fret markers.A definite buy!I will continue to keep these on hand for my customers.I would really like one for myself if I was just starting out, butI've got so many ukes!I can't keep everything, butIf I had to have just one ukulele,I'd be very happy with one of these!Forgot to mention that the neck is bolt on. Very solid! If you can get one from Enya, you can swap out the neck for a different design/style if you want to change it up later on down the road.

The craftsmanship is outstanding and the delivery was incredibly fast just 3 days...However, the sound has almost no projection, it's very dark and low even with new bright strings and the instrument is very smelly. It will stay on your clothes as well. It smells like chemicals, the wires inside were lose and I had to tide them up, the batteries were out of power and the most annoying thing that gave 2 stars is the input jack that makes an unbearable buzzing sound when you play even unplugged. I had to plug in the amplifier cable to get rid of that vibration. So I have a cable plugged in all the time even if I don't have an amplifier just to get rid of the buzzing sound that comes from the vibrations of the strings. The electronic part of this uke is total garbage and it affects your playing experience even if you don't use it. I will have to figure a way to change the poor quality input jack and that will of course increase the price and waste my time. The colour and gloss and the rest of the body is better in reality than the pictures. Total perfection. Intonation is great too. Such a shame that the electronic is not the same quality. I recommend it for a medium to high quality uke for a handy person who is ready to fix it.

I did get a tiny bit cosmetically faulty ukulele but after a few messages back and forth and pictures sent about the ukulele in question (had a weirdly dry fretboard with somehow very dry strings and some quality issue inside the actual instrument a small tear in the wood and 2 of the tuners namely e and a tuners were quite hard to move and had a thing stuck underneath the g tuner which i have no clue what it was) ..But these cosmetic faults apart I did get partially refunded for this and the ukulele still sounds great and its probably one of the best ukuleles overall. I am yet to test my Aklot to see if its better or how good it is compared to this as I have heard plenty good information about Aklot too but Enya is soon nr1 in guitars and in ukuleles .. They are innovative and make fantastic instruments..Yes some of their instruments are pricy but you will get a quality instrument from them..They have not paid me to write this I will hand it to them even though I have been quite annoyed at how they deal with customer relations, that their instruments are still rock solid great most of the time. At least their ukuleles are superb...This tenor size ukulele, feels and looks great and sounds heavenly.

I have to first thank the great customer service representatives from Enya. They worked closely and promptly in assuring me I would get the instrument I wanted. I received my ukulele 5 days after my order was placed, and that factors in shipping from China to The US. Fantastic job! That alone gives me great confidence dealing with Enya.First thing I noticed in the unboxing was the quality of the gig bag included. Far above average for instruments in this price range. The ukulele, absolutely visually stunning. The high gloss finish across the blue mahogany makes this quite the looker. Enya even took in to account, player comfort and finished the neck in satin so your hand glides better up and down the neck as you play. The body has nice resonance to it and the Enya branded strings, while a bit quiet, ring out beautifully giving this ukulele a majestic voice. The slotted headstock tuners seem to be unbranded, but work well.Edit: After having had some time to play and evaluate this instrument more closely, I would add the factory setup was superb. The action is very low, making barre chords much more comfortable. The neck is comfortable with no sharp edges on the frets. The passive pickup included works well. After 3 days it was holding tune pretty well.I'm still very happy with this purchase and would recommend it highly.I would give this 6 stars for it's overall value if I could, as I think you would be hard pressed to find a instrument of this type of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and outstanding customer service in this price range and above.

I'm still a beginner when it comes to the ukulele, but I really love the instrument and play daily. I was looking for a solid mahogany concert – I already have a Kala tenor (KA-EBY-T) strung low-G and wanted another instrument with a different sound. Like lots of other folks, I came across Enya through YouTube reviews (Bernadette, Got A Ukulele, One Music School, etc.) and was intrigued.First of all, in terms of value, this is hard to beat. There are not many solid mahogany instruments available under $250, especially with a slotted headstock, high gloss finish, and a nice gig bag. I was also looking at instruments from Ohana, VTab, Sun Star, and Mainland, but this was the best value (at least on paper) by far.The instrument is beautiful and very nicely finished. It's very glossy and very blue. I was hesitant about getting an instrument that is such a "statement" (I would have bought it in brown or black if they were available via Prime), but it's so nice looking that I have no regrets. It is a much deeper blue in reality than it appears in the Amazon photos and the wood grain has a great shimmer to it. The stain is a little patchy inside the slots of the headstock on mine, but it's not very noticeable and I really have to nitpick to find any faults. It also gets high marks for playability. The action came nice and low, especially at the nut (although that can always be adjusted anyway), the non-gloss neck is easy to move around (if a little chunky), the frets are perfectly smooth, and the Richlite fingerboard is smooth and comfortable. The tuners also feel very good, with no stickiness or play. It's actually slightly heavier than I was expecting (mostly in the thicker neck and headstock, I think), but not in a way that impacts playability. The inclusion of strap buttons is appreciated.Overall, I really like how the instrument sounds. It has nice sustain and a clear, sweet tone. However, I would say that it's not a loud ukulele. This doesn't really bother me, since I usually play on my own. I don't think I've heard anyone else mention the volume of this model as low, so it may just be that my other uke is a lot louder – as I mentioned, I'm not an expert. My impression is that it's on the quiet side, though. I wouldn't let that dissuade someone from picking it up, but you should be aware. To sum up, the Enya MAD looks great, plays very well, sounds good, and is an excellent value for the money. If you're shopping in this price range – or even a bit higher – I would highly recommend it.
