This worked great to feed two devices with Ethernet from one Ethernet cable going into the room. It's amplified so no signal loss. Price very reasonable. The alternative would be to buy another Ethernet cable and run it through the attic, not fun & costs more.

The ALYYDBG 1 to 2 Ethernet Splitter is a super-compact ethernet switch that should be in the go-bag of every computer user. There is no such thing as “splitting” ethernet, so this is actually a 3 port ethernet switch. It’s not technically 1 in and 2 out but rather 3 connections just like a typical switch. How often have you needed just one extra ethernet connection? Or maybe you need to piggy-back on an ethernet jack that something else is already plugged in to. With this USB-C powered ethernet switch you can do that, and USB-C power means you can run it from your laptop or even a power bank - no wall brick required (or included)! The case is made from strong aluminum anodized black that seems quite indestructible. Despite it’s exceptionally small size, it still manages to have LED lights to show you the status of the connections. This useful little box will have a permanent place in my kit.

Upon unboxing the ALYYDBG Ethernet Splitter 1 to 3 High Speed 1000Mbps, Enhanced RJ45 Internet Splitter with USB Power Cable you are presented with the splitter unit, USB-C power cable (you provide the power brick) and a user manual.I recently switched ISPs and the modem/router they provided to me only had two ethernet ports while the previous company had a modem/router with four ethernet ports. I needed more than the 2 ports provided so I ordered this splitter to get the extra ports I required. This splitter allows you to input one ethernet cable from the modem/router and then have 3 output ports available. I now have the available number of ports I needed. This device worked immediately without issue upon connecting it. I noticed no loss of speed even when I plugged in 3 output cables. The unit appears to be well made. The case is made out of aluminum and has a nice solid feel. Ethernet cables snap in securely with a positive click.Overall, this high quality device has given me the additional ethernet ports that I needed. Based on my experience with this splitter so far I can highly recommend it.Priced at $26.99 at the time of this review.

This is essentially a dumb switch with two outputs rather than more, splitting one Ethernet into two. It is built well, and works right out of the box, after you have connected the USB C cable for power. It comes with the necessary USB C cable and one ethernet cable. Using it to split an Ethernet into two separate Ethernet cables for two different computers, posed no issues and worked without any hitches. You can connect the USB C power to a computer USB port, to get the power from it. The feel of the splitter is that of a well made product with decent quality control. It is cool and smooth to touch with bevelled edges. The ports themselves are easy to plug into, giving you the feeling that this is a well built product that will last a life time. This review is for “ALYYDBG Ethernet Splitter 1 to 2 High Speed 1000Mbps, Rj45 Internet Splitter with USB Power Cable, LAN Splitter for Cat5/5e/6/6a/7/8 Cable(2 Devices Working simultaneously) (1000Mbps Ethernet Splitter, RJ45 1 to 2)”.

This is a decent GigE (1000 Mbps) Ethernet splitter that's reasonably well constructed with a typical aluminum alloy case/shell and for the most part works as expected without issues. However, it seems to have an excessive amount of retransmission errors although the speed is still fairly decent during the tests. The same tests were performed against another 5-port GigE switch that did NOT exhibit the same behavior so I'm forced to conclude that this particular splitter/switch is at fault, and that's quite unfortunate and disappointing. In any event, this particular Ethernet switch/splitter is intended for and indeed a perfect fit to be used in a narrow space.Note that Ethernet does NOT allow splitting traffic of any sort and this is in fact a 4-port GigE (1 Gbps) switch in disguise. If you think about it, a 5-port switch would allow you to connect up to 4 devices and share the network via 1 uplink to the router or another switch and that's exactly what this splitter is (and does).A 5-port Fast Ethernet (i.e. 100 Mbps) switch is about $20 at the moment on Amazon and a 5-port GigE switch is about $23; however, both of 'em are larger than this and they are often powered by a DC/barrel connector with an AC/DC adapter (provided of course) that can be a bit of a hassle especially if it's intended to be hidden from view and/or located in a narrow space. It's powered by standard USB-C port and a USB-C/A cable is also provided, which is good. This GigE Ethernet splitter has a dimension of 71x57x19 mm and it's reasonably small/compact although it's slightly larger than most other splitters of similar design and style, which are usually around 55-64 x 53-63 x 20-25-ish mm. It's certainly smaller than just about all other 5-port switches out there and I don't believe you will be able find a 5-port switch, GigE or otherwise, that has the same dimension as this (at least not that this point in time) and I dunno of anyone that's selling a switch that's less than 5 (or even 4) port at the moment (of course you will likely to find some odd models elsewhere if you REALLY looked).Unlike most other Ethernet splitters (or switches if you prefer) that I've come across so far (about 3+ dozens) that use Realtek RTL8367S or even HJ-1503GE BT2325 (home grown China chip) controllers, this one instead uses something that I haven't seen before (which is fine) but the most troubling thing is that there are practically NO search results from Google (and a few other engines) and I'm unable to find any info at this point in time so take what you will from that. For those who are interested (and perhaps more info will be available in the future), the chips in question are Oright-1000m OZ2401 and SC24002 2415D.As I've been saying for months that there is likely a 1x3 (i.e. 4-port switch in disguise) or 1x4 version since I've seen so many of those 1x2 versions (i.e. 3-port switch) and here we are, finally. If you are NOT concerned about the size or how it can be powered, then I'd say an ordinary 5-port GigE switch from a known and reputable brand is a still better bet, and perhaps a much more cost effective network 'splitter' for you in the long term since the reliability of these splitters is unknown. Realtek RTL8367S is used by TP-Link TL-SG105 for those who care (which I have as well).≡ PerformanceSo how does this perform? Well, it's similar to most other GigE splitters (1x2 and 1x3) and some GigE (1 Gbps) switches out there in terms of speed; however, as you can see from the results below, there are quite a few retransmissions (Retr column) which is usually indicative faulty or inadequate hardware, or other external factors such as interference, wiring, or even networking config. However, the same tests were performed against another 5-port switch that did not exhibit the same issue and the only variable here is this splitter. Having said that, the speed is still fairly decent and no issues are found with data integrity etc.Btw, even at 100 Mbps, it's still sufficient and certainly more than adequate for streaming, 4K or otherwise since 4K (including high-bitrate ones) contents generally use less than 25 Mbps. The following are the results from some quick speed tests for those who are interested.#### iperf -P1 -i10 -t 60 -c 10.10.10.13 # 1 threadConnecting to host 10.10.10.13, port 5201[ 5] local 192.168.168.250 port 42519 connected to 10.10.10.13 port 5201[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr Cwnd[ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 940 Mbits/sec 90 799 KBytes[ 5] 10.00-20.00 sec 1.10 GBytes 942 Mbits/sec 45 891 KBytes[ 5] 20.00-30.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec 90 813 KBytes[ 5] 30.00-40.00 sec 1.10 GBytes 942 Mbits/sec 90 635 KBytes[ 5] 40.00-50.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec 0 792 KBytes[ 5] 50.00-60.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec 90 728 KBytes- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr[ 5] 0.00-60.00 sec 6.57 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec 405 sender[ 5] 0.00-60.00 sec 6.57 GBytes 940 Mbits/sec receiver# iperf -P2 -i20 -t 60 -c 10.10.10.13 # 2 threadsConnecting to host 10.10.10.13, port 5201[ 5] local 192.168.168.250 port 42524 connected to 10.10.10.13 port 5201[ 7] local 192.168.168.250 port 42525 connected to 10.10.10.13 port 5201[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr Cwnd[ 5] 0.00-20.00 sec 1.10 GBytes 471 Mbits/sec 180 385 KBytes[ 7] 0.00-20.00 sec 1.10 GBytes 471 Mbits/sec 180 386 KBytes[SUM] 0.00-20.00 sec 2.19 GBytes 942 Mbits/sec 360- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ 5] 20.00-40.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 470 Mbits/sec 135 404 KBytes[ 7] 20.00-40.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 470 Mbits/sec 135 427 KBytes[SUM] 20.00-40.00 sec 2.19 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec 270- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ 5] 40.00-60.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 470 Mbits/sec 135 386 KBytes[ 7] 40.00-60.00 sec 1.09 GBytes 470 Mbits/sec 135 383 KBytes[SUM] 40.00-60.00 sec 2.19 GBytes 940 Mbits/sec 270- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr[ 5] 0.00-60.00 sec 3.29 GBytes 471 Mbits/sec 450 sender[ 5] 0.00-60.00 sec 3.28 GBytes 470 Mbits/sec receiver[ 7] 0.00-60.00 sec 3.29 GBytes 470 Mbits/sec 450 sender[ 7] 0.00-60.00 sec 3.28 GBytes 470 Mbits/sec receiver[SUM] 0.00-60.00 sec 6.57 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec 900 sender[SUM] 0.00-60.00 sec 6.57 GBytes 940 Mbits/sec receiver###FYI, 940-ish Mbps is actually fairly decent given the circumstance although some others with similar spec that I've come across do have around 948 Mbps. The bottom line is this (assuming it works for you); this is a perfectly workable 4-port switch (or 1x3 GigE splitter if you prefer to call it that) that's reasonably well-constructed and does what it claims for the most part but most importantly for me is its relatively small size and it's powered by standard USB-C which few 5-port switches are. Btw, it draws about 0.4A at full load so this can be easily powered by standard USB-A 2.0 ports.≡ ValueAll things considered, this is a fairly decent 4-port GigE (1 Gbps) switch (aka 1x3 network splitter) that's reasonably well-built with an aluminum alloy shell/case and for the most part works as expected (for now). It's somewhat reasonably priced at $30 for what it provides and its overall build quality, versatility, and performance. You can knock a few bucks off if you care to shop around though.I should mention again that the fact that no practically no info can be found for the chips used is disconcerting for me personally. Again, you can get a decent 5-port GigE switch for $23 although it's much larger than this. Your mileage might vary.

The splitter works. Make sure you get the right version for your needs, ie. get the gigabit version if you want to split "modern" fast ethernet and the 100 Megabits Per Second version for devices with a low speed requirement.

Great value for this network "splitter". Technically you cannot "split" a network, it's not that simple, you need a computer chip to properly handle and route network traffic, so this product is more. Complex inside than most people would think. It's also the reason it needs to be powered. It works great, and it's nice and compact which allowed me to "split" one network wire into two, to serve both the TV and the computer in that bedroom, when only one network port feeds that room.I also did a speed test many times over, and it consistently tested at 998 MBps, which confirms its a true gigabit "splitter"As described, and couldn't be happier.
