I bought this because we were having multiple Tornado warnings, but it’s also good for flood, wind, snow &ice, whatever national weather conditions are releasing. Also you can program multiple counties.I programmed my daughter, and brother and our house. I ended up buying them radios because this worked so well, I wanted them to have it also not just me calling or texting them warnings. It has a memory every Wednesday (for us) for testing. Then you can program the closest radio station to hear it talk about conditions time and information that is going on surrounding the warnings. It has different level of warnings too.I recommend this for everyone. Packaged and shipped well, Thank you!

Always a good idea to have one of these. Even if you're not watching the weather it is. Weekly tests to make sure it's functional. Great for camping also.

Receive sensitivity is not as good as old radio, which stopped working, and is not sold anymore. Programming is easy. Picked up weekly alert from NWS on Weds. Got very important Tornado Watch this morning loud and clear !No extra features, like FM radio or such.I added the Bingfu FM Radio Dipole Antenna for Stereo Receiver from Amazon. While not same frequency range, it definitely helped with reception.

This review is for the WR120-DSP (the newest revision of the WR120 as of Jan 2025). You can check the model you have by looking on the bottom of the radio. If it says "DSP" then you have the latest revision.I had a WR100 many years ago and used it until it went dead. For a number of years since then I have relied on my cell phone, but one time I noticed my phone failed to alert me, so I figured it's best to go back to a radio. Back then you had to enter the county codes, but this newer model does not make you do that. The device gives you a list of counties in each state and all you have to do is select the counties you want covered. A much more convenient system. This device also lets you edit the events you don't want to hear. I turned off most of the "watches" as I only want to hear an audible tone if there is a warning. There are around 80 different type of alerts this radio covers. Remember, it's not just a weather radio, but covers all civil emergency type situations: Amber alerts, national emergency alerts, Blue alerts, boil water alerts, radiological alerts, Police action alerts, etc. Some of them cannot be disabled per government rules, but a good number can. You can go through them and see which events you feel warrant the siren going off and which ones you only want to give you a silent alert. (All events will still give you silent alerts even if you turn off the siren). This revision of the WR120 fixed the "screen lag" some people complained about with previous revisions. Another change is it lets you adjust the siren loudness (low, medium, high). It also now lets you select sections of a county instead of the whole county (not available for all counties). This is useful for people who live in very large counties and don't want alerts for things across the county. The one negative change is they disabled the ability to turn off button beeps (I have no idea why). All in all, I have no complaints and the radio works well. If you live in a severe weather area, it is a good idea to own one.

First of all, the set up was VERY easy, took about 25 minutes, including getting the "code" for my county.Had an issue with getting through on the NOAA web site, which wasn't connecting. I had to go through a few "hoops" but finally got the information. It gave me 4 frequency options for my county. Input each one until I found the one with the clearest reception.Reception is UNBELIEVABLE!! I took it into my tornado shelter, which is in my garage. It is made of 1/4" plate steel on all 4 sides and the roof. It is tightly bolted to the concrete floor. I closed the door to pretty much "seal" it, turned the radio on for a local forecast, and it didn't miss a beat. I could hear everything just like I could if it was in the backyard. By comparison, my cell phone has NO reception in this same area. I recommend extending the 22" antenna fully up. I found a major difference in the reception with it fully extended, compared to just leaving it down and clamped to the radio itself.I left the factory defaults for the many assorted warnings that it is capable of, even if the vast majority will NEVER be used, (not too many earthquakes in Dallas). In the last 3 months or so, since i got it, has gone off several times so far when we had severe weather/tornado watches. Radio will wake you up. The speaker was more than good enough for the purpose. To be honest, the speaker may be excellent, but the quality of the actual NOAA radio broadcast is "functional", when you hear the message, your aren't listening to music, you just want the facts. The electric cord is long, maybe 6 feet or so, more than long enough for most people. The battery bak-up works, but don't know for how long, the most I have had it disconnected from electricity is about 15 minutes.I like that I can press down a button and get the immediate weather forecast for my area...SWEET! Don't have to go online, just hit the button on the radio, that is next to the bed.Overall, this is a great improvement from the 10 year old unit that it replaced and a price that is much less.

i paid for this thinking since it has the S.A.M.E. feature it could be programmed to any country but no just within USA or Canada. Worked fine for a couple seconds with batteries in but had to find an adapter and keep it plugged into the wall; if I didn't have an adapter as it comes with the 2 pronged USA charger. The material feels fairly cheap particularly the charging cord and it feels could snap at any moment; the device itself 1. it reminds me of an early 00s CD player you carry around with you, which isn't bad but it doesn't last with the 3x double AA batteries (i tried a couple different ones, brand new) and so i can't really carry around with me and doesn't pick up any of the stations as I am on the other side of the atlantic so if I decided to go to USA to visit my friends or visit my family in Canada I can't even check for potential storms and so on, as even with the antenna doesn't pick up anything, just static and i can't even program with the feature to the region and place I am in 2.when you turn towards you you can't see anything on the display; it has 2 little collapsible legs so it's at an angle but if for example you tried mounting it to the wall you can't see anything. Can't pick up any stations or program it to where I am unfortunately. Tried to see if i could and reading the instructions and watching videos of the same product so I could have a reason to keep it but unfortunately will have to return it.

Easy to program and operate. Provides timely Environment Canada weather updates for the area where you are sailing, kayaking or canoeing...Check the weather before you go out and you will not be sorry...This radio operates in AC and DC (batteries) current and is small enough to carry in your boat, kayak or canoe to prepare for changing weather conditions if you are already in the water.
