I bought the ice cube pack after seeing it at a friends house. I use the round ones in particular for making Frank Sinatra’s favorite drink- a Rusty Nail! I like the fact that the large round ice cubes don’t melt as quickly and water down my drink. And it looks cool! It takes a little effort to get the silicone top off, but it’s worth it. I use distilled water in the ice cubes so that they freeze clearer.

Nice that they are big but they are hard to take off

As long as you meticulously press the two halves together, especially the perimeter, this set will seal and everything will work correctly. It doesn't matter if what you're drinking, this ice will elevate your experience in a miraculous way!Regular ice is for the homeless and trailer dwellers. This ice is for the best of us.Keep in mind, it usually takes two days to thoroughly freeze. That's just due to the thickness of the ice. So, no set would work any faster.

My expectations were low but I'm pleasantly surprised by this product. I was a bit put off by how difficult it is to get the ice spheres/cubes out of their trays but I've managed to develop a method drawing from my memories of the old days when refrigerators didn't have ice makers. I keep freezer bags of each version ready to use (I used brown paper bags back in the day). A large freezer bag will hold about 16 cubes or about 13 spheres and close tightly. When it's happy hour, depending on what cocktail I've decided to make for myself and what the bride has ordered, I will take out either the cube or sphere tray and bring it directly to the kitchen sink and give it a quick rinse of cold tap water. Now I go to the designated freezer bag and take out what I need. Once the cocktails are mixed and served the ice tray is now loose enough to just squeeze out the spheres/cubes. They go into the freezer bags to replace or increase what I took, the tray is refilled and everything goes back into the freezer no fuss no muss and no wrestling with frozen silicone. Now that it's all easy peeezy I'm thinking about making a batch of colored spheres for the punch bowl to keep the freeloaders entertained. Don't tell the bride as she already thinks I'm taking up too much room in the freezer. I'm having fun with this product and recommend it. It's a great ice-breaker at parties (pardon the pun). Enjoy!

These make big ice cubes which is great when loading up a Yeti in order to keep the liquid cold for the maximum amount of time. Getting the ice out of the 8 cube tray is a real challenge. Getting the ice balls out of the other one is a little easier but the balls tend to break in half.

The sphere ice tray works really well. Surprisingly the sphere looked better than the ones made from a freezer with the cart ice feature.

Both molds make what they are supposed to make. Square and round ice. I haven’t seen any of the issues others are complaining about. No, they are not “hard to fill”. The round one takes a little patience but it’s still quite simple “Pour the water, slowly through the little hole in the silicone lid”, presto, it’s filled. No, you don’t need a lid for the square one. It would serve no purpose. Even the square molds you buy at the store don’t have lids. Yes, the bottom of the round mold is plastic, yes it will break if you drop it, especially if it has ice in it. That’s what plastic does. It’s not a flaw in the product, it’s a flaw in how you are handling the mold. If the ice is difficult to remove from the mold, turn it over and run it under lukewarm water, it will release the ice from the mold. Don’t twist the mold. It will break. Why? Because it’s frozen plastic. The square ice pops right out if you turn the mold over and push the bottom. If there is “white stuff” in your ice, it’s not the mold, it’s your water. Used filtered water and the “white stuff” won’t be there. If you get cloudy ice out of your ice maker, you will get cloudy ice out of your ice trays. These do not magically make clear ice out of bad water. If you want to make clear ice, I suggest you find a YouTube video on how to make clear ice and watch it. None of them will recommend a magic ice tray and it’s a bit more detailed than is worthwhile. I’m actually surprised how many people no longer know how to use ice trays.

Just makes perfect ice spheres. No nubs and no rings on these ice balls. This is the best sphere ice maker that I have used. I bought this on the off chance that I would be able to make Ice Sphere's that did not look like Saturn. The rings around the ice was not as appealing and keeping the tray from separating would be nice. Figured that the way the two sections held together would have helped but this product goes further.1) Super easy to fill. Built in funnels get water into the trey very easily. Also captures the ice expansion creating a cone at the top of the ball that is easy to break off. No more little nubs to preventing you from getting your perfect sphere.2) The silicon portion of the maker extends into the bottom half of the tray preventing the tray from separating, which would create the Saturn shaped (ring) balls of ice.3) Tabs make separating the tray easy and a quick push pops the Ice spheres out. Helps to wait a pinch after pulling them out of the freezer. The cube tray works well also, but that is a simple ice cube tray.
