I bought these as a replacement for the hammer-in kind, and the difference is like night and day. Don't waste your time with the latter; these are what you want.

These thigs work pretty well! Yeah they arent stainless but unless you are in an extreme environment who cares! Used them on a butcher block top to make a workbench. I did this so I could remove the top and reattach without worrying about blowing out the holes if I need to break it down.I used a 3/8" drill but and a depth control collar on my drill to make sure they went in the right depth. I know others mentioned using either slightly smaller or bigger, after doing some trials 3/8 worked best for me, much smaller and they didnt want to catch a thread, bigger and you risk stripping out the hole. I did make a smaller pilot hole for the larger bit so it didnt drift and it worked great! Driving them in with the supplied hex key worked well, if you have hex bit aoxkets might be a bit easier on your hand.I would recommend these again to someone who is future proofing a project!

I am a hobby wood worker, not a pro, but I like to build and fix things. For some reason I had never tried these. Recently I got a piece of furniture that was missing the threaded insert for one leg. I had the thing all together but on the last piece a bolt wouldn't work. Turned out the factory had missed putting the threaded insert in that hole for the bolt. I tried to contact the seller but they just gave me the run around and told me to send it all back for a refund or replacement. That would be a big waste of time for both me and Amazon. So, I found these and saw they were exactly the right size to work and thought what the heck, lets try these. Got them shipped to me "next day" and it took like a couple of minutes to install one of these and fix the issue. Worked like a dream!I only needed one of these for that job but ordered the package of 60 as the price was so reasonable and I knew I would find many uses for these. I am one happy customer. I will share these with my step-son as he also loves to build things and will find many uses for them. You can assemble things with regular screws but these allow you a much stronger joint. Also, you can remove the bolt that screws into them repeatedly without damage if you need to disassemble something. They are super easy to install, hold very strongly and are just easy to work with overall. A great item for those who work with wood.I priced ONE item like this at the local HD store. It was nearly a dollar for just one! This is a nice box of 60 with the wrench to fit them for under $6 (well, barely but ...). Great product, great value and easy to use.BTW: One reviewer mentioned they should tell you what size hole to drill. Well, they do if you read the whole description. 9.6mm +/-.2 mm. For you who use inches that is 3/8". You can very that size up or down a little depending on how hard the material is you are mounting these in. I just test a scrap of wood to make sure I have the best fit before doing my final work.

I used these for my woodworking projects. Used them for holding wood parts in place on my CNC router. Made clamps out of wood to hold the materials in place. So far so good.

I created some "retainers" from 1x4 PVC for the dropdown stairs in my garage to keep our attic stairs pulled tight against the weatherstripping, and these AGBOLO 20mm inserts in conjunction with Powertec knobs does the job of pulling the retainers (and thus, the attic stair cover) firmly against the weatherstripping. The 15 mm inserts MIGHT have done the job, but I want these suckers to LAST.In my application, the 20 mm threaded inserts withstand a fair amount of tension when the Powertec knobs are cranked-down (up, actually), and show zero signs of pull-out or backing-out after multiple open/close cycles of the attic stairs. Recommended.

More of a directions item, I should have gotten smaller size for my project, these are great and went in smoothly and held the item together. Will use, just need to order a smaller size for another project.
