Some mods are simply fun and look cool. Even though this has a theoretical benefit of creating more break angle on the A string like the G and D, it's not really necessary. It looks cool, and that's good enough for me.

This string retainer works just fine - it looks as good as OEM, and I didn't find anything on it that would make me hesitate to put it on a bass of any level. Great price for some solid hardware.

Looks and functions great. You'll need to drill two small holes in the headstock to attach this 3 string string tree . On some installations you may be able to use one existing string tree hole and only need to drill one additional hole. This bass string retainer/ string tree is high quality and heavily chrome plated. Installed - it creates the right amount of downward pressure at the nut for this short scale Fender style neck.Excellent quality and value. It looks great too!

This is a great upgrade if you need to put more tension on your A string! Looks great and does what it should. String retainers are usually pretty unimpressive, even if they are functional, but this is a solid chunk of brass! Available in chrome, black or black electroplate to match your other hardware.Great bass hardware item, I'll mostly likely be coming back for more of these for upcoming projects.

If you are looking for more tension on you strings at the neck this a a perfect upgrade. Quality materials and hardware. I get asked where i got it from. Major upgrade from a single disc style that only affects two strings.

String retainers for Fender-type bass guitars ordinarily hold down the D and G strings, but this one holds down the A string as well. The extra tension might work best for short-scale basses such as the Mustang or Bronco, but this works on any Fender-type bass. The attached photo shows how it looks on the headstock of my J Bass clone; as you can see, the underside string grooves are perfectly placed. Be aware that this retainer has two screws, so once it's fully installed, you're committed. If you choose to go back to a standard retainer, you will have that extra hole in your headstock. That aside, this OVSAL retainer is nicely made with chrome plating and is not very expensive. It comes with two screws that are slightly longer than standard. It may well be just right for you.

This item is well made and has a nice chrome finish to it. The screws have just the right amount of length to them.
