I am using this 1 inch ball together with the mounting plate to install an Android Auto / Apple Carplay unit on my motorcycle. The mounting plate is specific to my motorcycle but requires a female threaded 1 inch ball to be added to the mounting plate.The 1 inch ball looks good and is holding the Android / Apple screen in place. It appears to be well made but there is some rough metal on the "arm". (ie the part protruding from the ball with the female thread). The ball itself appears to have a coating which allows it to be gripped by the mounting clamp (ie RAM mount).Time will tell how well it will last. The Android /Apple screen is lightweight so I'm not putting much force on ball.So far... I'd recommend it.

As with other reviewers who posted pictures, the stem/post for the ball mount looks nothing like the picture on the product page. There was significant galling on the post where it was apparently clamped for thread tapping at the factory. There was also no small amount of black coating or rubber from the actual ball on the stem. I cleaned that and the galling up with a scotch brite wheel on a bench grinder, so it's all good now. However, I expect much better product quality from Ram products, which I have a lot of.

I used this with a 1/4-20 bolt through the unused mirror mount hole on the bike to hold my gopro. Holds tight. The rubber coating has no issues.

Item works fine but there is a million different mount options out there- I chose RAM as the original and their reputation for quality. As you can see in the photo the item I received what rubber residue all over the aluminum base and a large gouge in the metal. It took some work to sand and smooth out with a scotch brite pad- something I shouldn't have to do on a "premium" grade product!

I already have the Ram x mount phone holder in my car. With this ball adapter I can put my phone on a tripod to take timed pictures. The ram mount system provides many ways to hold phones. I also have a ram system to hold my boat fish finder.

I had a basic phone mount in my car. The neck broke in about a month. I have a note 8, so it's pretty heavy. I went with the ram x-grip. Rock-solid now.

I purchased a Rugged Ridge "07-10 Dash Multi-Mount with Phone Kit" for my 2009 Jeep JK which comes with a short and pretty weak phone grip. My Pixel 3a would fall out from even a pothole so not great for off-roading. The phone holder on the dash tray has a 1/4" threaded hole on top of the attachment point so you can screw something else right on top and leave the existing phone mount in place. In my case I used the Grifiti arm to replace to upper holder and just screwed it down tight once I got my position where I wanted it so now I have both making it usable for another small device or for a passenger phone.I purchased the "Grifiti Nootle 9 Inch Flexible Metal Black Gooseneck" and added a "RAM Double Socket Arm" and a "RAM Ball Adapter with 1/4"-20 Threaded Hole" to attach the 'TACKFORM Motorcycle Phone Mount - 1" Ball Connection' which has a death grip and it puts my phone within easier view and reach.Specific to this ball there isn't much to say. Worked perfectly and exactly as described. Using it to mount my x-grip Ram mount in my JLUR, and fit the bill to a T. Even arrived 4 days early! Great rubberized coating. My only concern would be the threads potentially stripping out since they're aluminum, as opposed to steel, but I'll update this review if I incur any problems.

Bit of a delivery problem but nicely dealt with by Sportouring Ltd. The item itself is not cleanly finished as the RAM product picture implies, with the rubber coating smeared around the stem. Functionally great but not nicely finished.
