Poor instructions, but it’s not hard to assemble. It works great and I am happy with it

This milling set up works well, but it has missed some ease of use points. The depth gauge is marked, but you need to loosen for nuts to adjust it. Why not have knurled knobs on them? The hand hold has an adjustment knob on one screw, but not the other. Why? For the price, this mill is good. The materials seem decent. I don't think it would hold up to hard, daily use; but, if you keep your inner neanderthal in check, it should last a long time. With a few ease of use features it would awesome for the casual user.

My husband has used this everyday since we received it. He absolutely loves it. It works great for him. We are cutting trees off of our property, using this to make planks and then making beautiful pieces of woodworking with them. He had no complaints on putting it together, it is light enough that I can pick it up and move it. It seems sturdy, and has not caused him any accidents yet.I am overall pleased with my purchase.

I have used this kind of "sawmill" before and that one was very difficult to setup and use. The workmanship on this sawmill is very nice and the materials are perfect for the build. I am surprised at this level of quality for this price, my expectations were much lower. Now, as to how well it works, it works as expected, but realize, any device like this carrying a chainsaw beneath it is unwieldy. It takes a lot of time and a ton of effort, much more than a "real" sawmill, but it works if you stick with it. We cut up a 20" diameter x 10' long Elm log. It took all day and pretty much wiped me out, but we got there and the result was very good.

Got this to mill some large spruce trees. Easy to assemble easy to adjust , overall a good product. Have milled quite a bit of lumber with it already, with no problems. Can be assembled to three different widths, which is nice because I don't need the widest size usually so it is less bulky and easier to manage, but if I do run into a larger log I can add another section, change my saw bar and keep working and I don't have to get a wider mill.

I couldn't wait to try this product out. Please forgive the cheap saw and blunt chain. I wanted to try the saw mill out, but not on my best saws. I opted for this old boy and pulled him out of retirement. The mill worked so much better than I thought it would for the price bracket. All the parts are sturdy and should take alot of abuse and hard work. I used it with the mill guides also from Zozen. For bars I used an old roof rack incase your wondering from the pics. They worked well for a test but I would use either wood or I may make a long rail set. All in all buy with confidence. I had to wait a couple of weeks delivery as this came from abroad. No import duty for England. Can't say for anywhere else. Our tax threshold is currently £150 I believe.

This mill is well built with just a couple of quirks that I can easily get over. So far, I’ve milled a few oak logs and a couple maple combined with a Husqvarna Rancher 460 with a 24” bar and Forester ripping chain. If you take your time, everything runs great and I’d guess it goes about 1’ / 1-1.5 minutes. Use your wedges in the back of the log once you are clear enough and then side wedges every few feet. Also, pay attention to your markings on the depth gauge. I installed mine in opposite directions, so I have to look around one side or the other to match them up. Overall, I like the kit and know I can run a bigger saw, if I get one! Definitely recommend this Alaskan mill.Pros:Stable / wide platform that keeps cuts level and tracking well.Lightweight frame, but solid backing for the saw.Easy to adjust cut height with your standard chainsaw wrench.Brackets for the first cut work well, if your log’s end cut is fairly square.Cons:Plastic handled bolts for holding handle and end brace vibrate out. I’d recommend some blue loctite on these and nuts that won’t be adjusted.Handle is awkward to use. I wish it was upright, like most other mill kits. I might add a clamp on handle for that purpose. One the second cut and beyond, you have to make sure you start level, or the back of the guide will bind when it gets on the log.

The quality of this product is good but I just think it’s a poor design. The clamps that hold it to the bar of the saw are either too tight that the blade won’t move because it’s bound or they’re too loose that the bar moves. And when it moves it's not only unsafe but the blade can hit a bolt (like happened in my case) and dull the blade instantly. Some of the bolts are hard to reach as well. You end up spending more time adjusting everything than actually cutting wood.If you have an 18” chainsaw, the maximum size log you will be able to cut is about 13 inches.

First time ever using an "Alaskan Chainsaw Mill." Setup wasn't terrible. Had to watch some videos online but was pretty easy. Of note: make sure you have a rail system for the first board, to remove the outer rough cut board. This kit did not come with those mounting brackets, but this same brand offers them. Ordered, and it worked great. One thing I found out quickly and was new to me (even though everyone I talked too who has used this style of mill, said "Yes, that is an issue" is that you lose a lot of the cutting width. I was running a 20" bar on a Stihl 311 and by the time you add the saw to the mill, the brackets and how it mounts takes up about 4 inches of your cutting length leaving you with a max cut of 16". I ended up having to purchase a 25 inch bar and new ripping chains. With the 25" bar, I was able to slab boards under 20" in width. Ideally, a 36 inch bar would be better but my Stihl 311 would be very unhappy with that much chain. Overall, really love this product. Well built, sturdy, and works. Only complaint would be with all of the track extension set screws. These will vibrate out of their hole quite easily and I am going to use some lightweight locktite to help the screws stay in place. Recommend this product.
