Does it’s job as expected. Feels like any other high quality hardware used in climbing.

Fantastic hand held ascender. There's a lot of ascenders out there from big names that cost big $$$, but if you dont need any of the fancy bells and whistles, this is a 100% fantastic choice for a hand held ascender.

Easy to use single-handed, and nice to have the accessory holes. I use it on 8mm rope and it grips amazing. The teeth are very aggressive, so you want to make sure you lift the ascender as you disengage it so the teeth don't snag/tear the jacket on the rope. Bigger than I expected, but light because it's aluminum. I use two of them, and it's not at all weird that both are right-handed. Probably better that way, because both work the same.

I have a climbing background, but I mainly used this ascender for working on a 45° roof. Others have noted that the teeth may abraid the line. However, I found that they usually set pretty firmly with no drag, thus minimizing damage. A bigger problem was that working with a 10.5 mm line (well within the specified size range), it was hard to disengage the teeth fully to slide the ascender back down the line. The teeth disengaged as long as the line was taunt, but not if if was slack.Bottom line: a good, lightweight, inexpensive option for roof work, but probably not my first choice for technical climbing.

I first tried tree climbing with a prusik knot for my foot loop to cut down on cost and it was miserable (but it did work). I finally broke down and bought this and the difference was huge. Well worth the money for the benefit. I've seen a lot of climbers on youtube use other things like rope mans or other locking devices, but I don't understand why you wouldn't go with something like this with a handle. The only thing I can think of is the wear that this could possibly have, since it's catching on the rope using teeth instead of some kind of system a gri gri uses...? Anyway, the holes on the ascender fit a few types of carabiners and the handle is wrapped with a very robust foam.

The ascender works well and I am very pleased with my purchase. I use ascenders on a daily basis for hours on end at work and this works just as good as my petzl or black diamond

Really love this ascender. I use it for tree climbing in conjunction with Epic Peak's self braking descender and it rocks! I have a 4' prusik foot loop coming off the bottom and it holds my 220 lbs no problem. It both attaches and detaches beautifully and without problem. Only complaint is- as with the descender- there is no sticker as they thoroughly describe comes with it (haha, who cares but still not sure why they emphasize the decal so much!)
