Simple and functional, this authentic, handcrafted Moroccan cooking Tagine is ready to be used for your next flavorful and exotic Moroccan meal. The Tagine is to be use on the top of electrical or glass stove or inside the stove. If you have a gas stove with flames please use a protective metal piece to protect your Tagine from cracking. HOW TO CURE A TAGINE? It is necessary that it is seasoned before initial use. Please follow these simple instructions below for maximum results: 1. WATER: The new tagine needs to be first submerged in water for at least 1 hour. If you can’t submerge it, place it in a clean sink bowl and slowly fill the base of the tagine with water until it stops absorbing it. Place the tagine lid on top and fill it as well. Let stand for 30 minutes to allow full absorption of water into the clay. Empty excess water and set to dry for 5 minutes. 2. OLIVE OIL: All you need is 3 table spoons of olive oil, 2 for the base and one for the lid. Spread the olive oil throughout the base and lid with your hand. 3: HEAT: While the tagine is still wet with the oil applied to it, place it in the oven as shown in the first or second photos, and set temperature at 350 F and leave for 45 minutes. The evaporation of moisture creates a vacuum effect to pull the olive oil into the clay which glazes and seals it. Then leave the tagine cool down in the turned off oven.TAGINE MUST BE COOKED IN LOW TEMPERATURES AND A DIFFUSER IS RECOMMANDED TO AVOID BREAKAGE

The lid didn't match the base, and more importantly the lid did not fit properly on the base. Since the purpose of cooking with a tagine is to keep the steam within the vessel and allow the collected moisture to return to the food for cooking and that's what the method is all about, the lid must fit.I returned the tagine. Be aware, Treasures of Morocco is charging me a 20% restocking fee.I think that's a dirty trick, considering it does not say anything about a restocking fee on the order page. It simply says the item is returnable through a certain date in January.

Ordered this as a Christmas gift for my father, and the original package went missing. Treasures of Morocco was understanding and extremely helpful, and shipped a replacement to me in time for the holidays. The tagine is well-made, beautifully designed and definitely heavy-duty. Looking forward to enjoying family meals cooked in it!

A beautiful work of art. However, one must be very sensitive to the limitations of this type of cookware. The base cracked the first time I used it because of having the heat too high. But the seller was very kind and sent me a new base for just the price of postage. I will be very careful in the future!

I use the Tagine for Morrocan dishes exclusively. This is my 2nd Tagine and I love using it. I have heated it to 350 degrees in the oven with no issues. Very sturdy. Meats come out moist and delicious with authentic flavor due to the clay. Make sure you follow seasoning instructions first. Would highly recommend.

Arrived the day after placing order - well-packed and in perfect condition. Cooked with it the following day after seasoning it (this is a glazed tagine & although we read conflicting instructions about whether seasoning glazed tagines is necessary, we did it - no harm, maybe it did some good). Thus was our first attempt at tagine cooking - easy prep - even easier cooking in oven (put it in and leave it `til recipe says it's ready) - delicious dish as good as any tagine we've eaten out - and easy clean up (directions state it is dishwasher safe but it's a space hog in our washer & it's easy to hand wash). We're pleased with our purchase and have several new tagine recipes lined up to try.

I waited until I came full circle before I made my comments. First, the tagine arrived ahead of the scheduled delivery date. The packaging was worthy of a nuclear warhead. It was well wrapped and padded. Once I got the all the padding off, I found that the tagine was in perfect condition. It was very substantial and had nice glaze. I went to the seller’s website and downloaded their instructions on how to cure the tagine. Their instructions were simple and easy to follow. In a brief amount of time, I had the tagine properly cured and ready to use. I had also purchased a heat diffuser since I have a gas stovetop. I live in a small town in central Texas where the variety of restaurant cuisine consists of Mexican, barbecue…..and Mexican. I had been spoiled in Dallas with a wide selection of restaurants and missed having a varied menu to choose from. So, I decided to experiment with cooking different types of food. I was intrigued with the complexity of spices found in Indian and other Middle Eastern and African dishes. It was while searching for dish recipes that I found those for the tagine. I selected one that seemed interesting and gave the tagine its maiden voyage. It handled the medium heat necessary to brown the chicken without a problem. I then set the heat on low and gave it an hour. The result was an astounding dish of complex flavors. The chicken was fork soft. In the end, the tagine cleaned up without effort. I am very pleased with my purchase and the seller; and will certainly add more recipes to my list now that I’ve mastered using the tagine.

I used it three times and the result was amazing. But today I removed it from the diffuser hot and just put on another burner, that was off and cold. And the base cracked soon after 😭. I know it was probably my fault, but there was no warning anywhere and I had no way of knowing it would happen.:(((
