These ascenders work fantastic and they're a great asset to have on hand. It's super lightweight and easy to use. Attaching to your climbing rope is simple and makes life much easier getting up a tree. The only downsides are that after awhile, the teeth will likely do some minor damage to your rope (though not likely any more or less than normal use in a tree) and the weight limit I feel could be a bit higher. 220lb is decent but there are some bigger people out there doing tree work and when accounting for all the gear attached, it's not hard to get close to or break that limit. All in all though I'm quite happy with this piece and it's a great value. You can get similar or near identical ones for much higher a price.

Easy to insert over rope and then the rope slides easily and appropriately while ascending; the cleats bite into the rope reliably, and this doesn’t slide backwards making ascent very secure. Devices such as this can damage the rope over time, more so if used improperly, so it’s important to carefully inspect the rope before use, as most do anyway, along with all other climbing equipment, and of course use an appropriate size climbing rope with this equipment. This is a right hand ascender; a left hand ascender is also available for purchase at a reasonable price. The metal and parts all seem tough and reliable, and there are adequate attachments for carabiners.

The quality is on par for what you'd expect of a quality piece of climbing gear. The rope sizing is larger than I use for climbing however. With the recommended 10 - 13 mil rope, that's more along the size of what you'd use as an Arborist and well above what I carry. As far as size goes, this unit's grip is larger than a PETZL but smaller than the NewDoar. My hands are large and It feels better than the PETZL, but not the NewDOAR in my grip. This goes for both the fit and the grip materials.

This hand ascender is right hand and made out of high quality aluminum alloy. The ascender is as described in the listing. This is a high quality and accountable ascender with a good price. It slips onto your rope with ease and it slides through the ascender smoothly. The ascenders cleats bite into the rope securly. There is no sliding backwards when you are making you ascent. I am using this ascender in my emergency rescue kit. I recommend this product.

Almost a carbon copy of the Ascension for ½ the cost. Very little in notable difference, works well and exactly as it should. 0 complaints of any kind.

As far as ease of use, this ascender is excellent. In many respects the design and construction are brilliant. For it's generous size and strength, it's extremely lightweight at 7 ozs. The handle is very ergonomic and grippy for an average sized adult male hand, although it would work equally well with gloves. It has a couple of large lanyard holes as well. There us a small rubberized toggle that has two positions, allowing the cleat to move without releasing the rope entirely, or for loading the rope. The whole unit feels extremely purpose built for safety and well-engineered.My only concern is the cleat itself seems so aggressive I'm concerned over time it might jeopardize the integrity of the rope. It certainly won't slip, and I appreciate erring on the side of caution, but I would definitely spend the extra time to inspect your rope for fraying after using this ascender. Beyond that, it's an excellent piece of gear.
